Graduated in journalism, mother of a young boy (José) born in 2008 who has given her loads of inspiration. Dedicates most of her time to writing. In 2005 has been awarded with the Revelation Prize by the Portuguese Jounalists Club.
Maria Inês Almeida has published dozens of books, most of them directed to children and young adults, including the highly appreciated When I… grow up and Do you know where your parents met?. When I... grow up, short-listed for Best Children's Book on the 2011 SPA Awards, has been translated into Spanish and Chinese. The two titles represented Portugal at the Bologna Children's Book Fair 2012.
Amongst Almeida's best sellers are also titles such as The last tree, How long does your face stand?, Parents for sale in a Shopping Mall near you, Dolls' little house, When did I start believing in Santa Claus? and God is a friend of Spiderman.
The clouds and The amazing adventure of Malala are Maria Inês Almeida's latest books. The amazing adventure of Mandela will follow this year.
At the moment, writes a weekly review on children's TV programs for the Portuguese leading daily newspaper. Also collaborates with the Portuguese public television.
