The Portuguese multifaceted writer with a hint of sweet Brazilian perfume.
Tiago Torres da Silva (1969, Lisboa) graduated in Engineering but it was to writing that he dedicated his professional life, namely as a dramatist and with several successful incursions in poetry and songwriting. He has worked in regular partnerships in Brazil, where he has put on stage some of his plays and collaborated in projects with popular musicians.
With his play “It Is The Sea Alfonsina, It Is The Sea”, Tiago Torres da Silva received the acclamation of the specialized Brazilian press, that have considered it the best show of the Curitiba Theatre Festival; and with “Bibi lives Amália” he has sold out the Portuguese theatre rooms consecutive times, after which it would be brought to several Brazilian stages. The author's consecration happened with the Amália Rodrigues Prize for his lifetime work.
Nowadays, with eight theatre and poetry books published and several dozens of staged dramatic texts, Tiago Torres da Silva presents regularly his plays in the main Portuguese theatre rooms, such as the National Theatre D. Maria II or the Parque Mayer.
His link to Brazil has also strengthened, in particular after having collaborated in lyrics and compositions with the main performers of the Brazilian popular music like Elba Ramalho or Ney Matogrosso.
